なんとなく暇なのでアクセス解析とかしてたら、意外な発見が。osamu666の日記風簡易ホームページというところで、なんとトニー第１話を「もう少し自然になるように」リライトしてくれていました。びっくり。
osamu666さんはアメリカ在住の方のようですが、詳細は不明です。英語の先生ではないようです。記事を読む限りマカーなことは確かなようで、そんなつながりで私のブログにたどり着いてくださった方なのかも知れません。
オープンで載せておいた素材が知らないところでモディファイされている。本当にオープンソースな感じですね。それが英語の先生以外にまで広がっていることが、私にとっては一番意外でしたが。
せっかくなのでリライト版をご紹介。
Tony Gonzarez is a junior high school student. He is 14 years old. His father teaches English in Japan. So he lives in Japan with his family.
One evening, Tony was about to work on his Garakuta art project for school. He had to finish his Garakuta art by tomorrow. But he couldn't find his artwork anywhere in his house.
"Maybe I left it in my classroom."
"What will Mr.Y say to me, if I don't have it with me tomorrow...?"
It was ten o'clock at night. He was not sure if anybody was still at the school. But he felt he had to go to get it.
He got out his room through the window and he started to run. He left home without saying anything to his father and mother. They are very strict, they wouldn't say OK to go out this late at night.
It was twenty minutes past 10 when he arrived at S Junior high school. There was no car. The school building was all dark. He thought nobody was there. He felt helpless.
"What am I gonna do?" He said to himself.
At this second, Tony found someone standing right next to him.
見比べてみると、細かい語彙でより英語らしい表現に直されています。もっともこのトニーシリーズは「授業で最近教えた表現をうまく組み合わせて別のお話を作る」というコンセプトなので、多少不自然なところは承知していたつもりでしたが、「ああ、こういう表現をさりげなくインプットしたいよなぁ」と思わせるものもたくさん。sadよりhelplessだよなぁ。中学２年生でも十分理解できそうだし。
