You're beautiful / James Blunt

バック・トゥ・ベッドラム(初回限定スペシャル・プライス)

　全英に続いて全米でも１位を獲得したジェームス・ブラントの"You're Beautiful"。３年生の生徒が「この間Ｍステ出てたイギリスの人の歌がいい」というリクエストをしてきたので、検索してみたらこの曲でした。さっそくamazonで取り寄せてみると、聞いたことのある曲でした。

　NATOの平和部隊軍人からミュージシャンへの転身など、ドラマティックな人生を歩んでいるこの人。「イギリスの吟遊詩人」という肩書きは伊達じゃなくて、曲も声もなかなか聴かせます。リチャード・アシュクロフトに似てるかな、と思ってたけど、エルトン・ジョンの初期作品に似てるという専門家の声も。ちなみに同じ方がマネージメントしてるようです。

　さて、授業で歌えますかね。曲はスローだし、思ったよりは癖のない歌い方。３年生なら行けそうな感じです。たまにはバラードもいいでしょう。ただ一つだけ気になることが。それは歌詞の中にある一節、

　　She could see from my face that I was fucking high,

のfuckingでしょうね。veryの代わりくらいの気持ちで使ってるんでしょうけど、中学校で歌わせるのは微妙な感じ。単語そのものは（どうせ勝手に耳にして知ってるだろうから）、ちゃんと触れてあげたいとは思うんだけど。意味も分からずに「使うなよ」って。そこだけ歌詞カードを消しておくか…。

　そこ以外は、文句なしなんだけどなぁ。もう少し悩むとします。
